Ten Metre Report 1st Nov

Post by G4CJC »

Lots of DX about especially on Saturday and Sunday. A very popular contest the CQ Worldwide DX Contest SSB is a sure fire winner. Tops were T2C (Tuvalu), XU7AME (Cambodia), E51JAN (Cook Is), FY5KE (French Guiana and A25R (Botswana). There were lots more of course. On Sunday there were over 14,000 spotted contacts and just a few less on Saturday.

Mick, G7TNQ, who is a member of Halton RAF Radio Society sent me these 10m contacts. I think he made them all mobile SSB with 100W.

Sun: After a two week decline, which reminded some observers of a Solar Minimum, sunspot numbers are bouncing back. The emergence of multiple new sunspots on the solar disk plus a new far side sunspot rotating over the sun's eastern limb is driving the sunspot number back up.

Footy: Stoke win again, 3 in a row. With Stoke it’s difficult to get one in a row. Cardiff at the Bet 365 stadium next. Usually a tough one.
And, rather unusually in recent years, Spurs are top of the Premier League!

Other News: For those who don’t know there is a very useful PC app for programming frequencies, channels, modes etc into transceivers. It’s called Chirp. It’s free (donations accepted). Mostly it gets used to program awkward Japanese hand held transceivers but it can do other stuff too. But getting the right connecting cable is not straight forward as many cheapo ones contain cloned converter chips that now refuse to work. Making your own is easy.
